Veterinarian Checklist for Your Puppy in Germantown

puppy with veterinarian

You’ve recently welcomed a puppy as a new member of your family. Whether you already have experience with raising dogs in the past or if this is the first time you will be living with a canine, it’s crucial to bring your puppy in for preventative care on an ongoing basis. What follows is a checklist for puppy care from your preferred veterinarian at Forest Hill Animal Hospital.

Preventative Care Timeline for Your Puppy In Germantown, TN

3 Weeks: Bring your puppy in for its first preventative care appointment. This visit will be to get a fecal test to see if the animal is afflicted with intestinal parasites. Before you go, our vet will give you a schedule for upcoming vaccinations.

6 Weeks: Your puppy should start getting vaccinations beginning at the age of 6 weeks to 8 weeks.

12 Weeks: Time to book an appointment for a parasite test. This is when your dog will also get a rabies vaccine. The 12-week mark is also a good time to get your pet spayed or neutered.

16 Weeks: Third set of vaccinations

Once Per Year: After vaccinations, make sure to bring your dog in at least once per year for wellness checkups.
